There will be plenty of excitement for everyone who attends the town's Frontier Days celebration in February. Hours of the festivities are 1 to 5 on Saturday and 12 to 5 on Sunday.

In addition to the appearance of movie and television stars, such as James Drury, there is a full fledged cowboy camp set up, complete with gun fights and cowboy re-enactments.

An Indian Village is also be set up, featuring Chief Black Bear and his tribe with Indian Lodges and ceremonial demonstrations.

A mountain man gathering usually takes place, featuring the rugged lifestyle of ancestors in an era when living off the land was a daily struggle.

The Blue and Gray also pay tribute to the honor of their ancestors in a Civil War Encampment, and historical demonstrations featuring flint knapping, broom making and other examples of the daily labors of life ina by-gone era.

Capping the frontier days is a CASI-sanctioned Chile Cook-Off launched under the sponsorship of THE SOUVENIR and DAVE'S PEPPER PALACE.

There will also be lots of musical entertainment, and goods and wares of the frontier era will be sold.

Springfest Held in March

Old Town Spring is also the home of numerous festivals and special events that punctuate the town’s year-round shopping experience and provide visitors with many exciting memories.

In early spring – usually in March – the Texas wine industry and the Spring Preservation League join forces and present Springfest Art and Wine Festival, Texas Style. It is a food, wine tasting and art extravaganza.

Since Old Town Spring is the home of two of Texas’ top wineries, Winberly Valley Winery and Red River Winery, as well as several local artists, the event is always well attended. Come on out and bring the family and enjoy wine-tasting booths throughout town, art galleries, food booths, free entertainment and the more than180 shops and restaurants of Old Town Spring. The fun starts at 10 am on Saturday and noon on Sunday, and ends at 6 pm both days.

The Texas Crawfish Festival

The annual Texas Crawfish Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors to two weekends of fun, Cajun food and live music. It is the largest crawfish celebration in Texas and is held over two weekends in the Spring.

Each year the large crowds consume between 40,000 and 50,000 pounds of crawfish at venues throughout old town and enjoy music and dancing, carnival rides and street vendors, along with noted entertainment and big bands appearing on five separate stages in Preservation Park and throughout town.

The event is the largest of the town’s annual "happenings." So if you like Crawfish, and enjoy Cajun, Zydeco, Bluegrass and Country music, come on out. You won’t be disappointed.

Home For The Holidays
Every weekend from mid November until Christmas

Old Town Spring is transformed into a holiday wonderland in November and December, with hundreds of thousand of twinkling lights, Christmas displays, enticing aromas and traditional music of the season. There is also a Living Christmas Tree concert and stage performance put on each Saturday evening by the 200 voice choir and ensemble from The First Assembly of God Church in Spring. There is also a spirited parade on Saturday of the middle weekend in November to kick off the season. Then that evening there is a special town-wide lighting ceremony.

Each year this popular event attracts larger and larger crowds and entertainers, including high school and church choral and instrumental groups, professional musicians and street vendors. Last year, for example, more than 1,400 talented individuals and groups entertained holiday crowds at four stages throughout town and on street corners and in and around brightly decorated shops.

The events will take place every weekend from mid November until Christmas.

The Walking Ghost and History Tours of Old Town Spring

Old Town Spring has been called "The Ghost Capitol of Texas," perhaps because of the strange and unexplained occurrences and paranormal activities that have been reported and witnessed in many of the town’s old buildings. Several ghostly sightings have even been captured on film by local and regional paranormal investigation groups.

As a result of the widespread interest, one of the town’s businesses – Randy Woods now conducts private walking ghost and history tours for interested individuals and groups. The tours, which last approximately 1‡ hours, are staged whenever five or more people make reservations for a specific date. Cost is $10.00 per person. If you or your friends are interested in scheduling a ghost tour, call Randy Woods at (281) 367-6156.
